Scottish Premiership side Rangers are reportedly listening to offers for Eduardo Herrera, with a return to Mexico on the cards.
It will come as no surprise to anybody to learn that Eduardo Herrera’s Rangers career is over.
The Mexican striker arrived last summer from Liga MX outfit Pumas UNAM for a fee of around £1.5 million but, like so many of Pedro Caixinha’s other signings during that ill-fated spell at Ibrox, Herrera struggled to make an impact.
In fact, the 29-year-old managed a grand total of two goals in 24 games. And he found himself so far down the pecking order that he made just two first-team appearances for the Gers in 2018.
Now, according to the Scottish Sun, Rangers are keen to get Herrera off the wage bill this summer with the club open to permanent or temporary deals. Goal believe that Pumas could offer Herrera a return to his former club this summer, and the chances of Herrera moving back to Mexico might just have increased.
Talisman Nicolas Castillo, who scored 24 goals in 32 games last season, has completed a protracted move to Portuguese giants Benfica while Erik ‘Cubo’ Torres is following the Chile international out the exit door, joining Club Tijuana.
Therefore, there is suddenly a major void in Pumas’ attack that they could fill with the signing of Herrera. And Rangers would surely be only too happy to oblige.
