Left-back Bryan Oviedo has lost his place in Sunderland’s XI and has not featured in League One since October, with Jack Ross preferring other options.

Is Bryan Oviedo going to make one of his final appearances for Sunderland against Morecambe in Tuesday’s Checkatrade Trophy clash?
The Black Cats have been desperately attempting to get rid of a number of their high earning players in recent months, having managed to cancel the contracts of both Didier Ndong and Papy Djilobodji.
And reports from the Chronicle have suggested that Oviedo could be on his way in the January transfer window, with Sunderland seemingly keen to raise more money for new signings. The Costa Rican’s wages are high for a player in League One, so it would be no surprise if the Wearside club made an attempt to cash in.
It is even more likely with Denver Hume impressing at left-back in recent weeks. Oviedo started the season well but has not appeared since the 2-2 draw with Peterborough United in early October.
He was left on the bench again for the 2-1 FA Cup first round win against Port Vale on Sunday.

According to the Sunderland Echo, Oviedo is now expected to make a rare appearance against League Two Morecambe in the cup tomorrow alongside a number of other senior players, such as Glenn Loovens, Alim Ozturk and goalkeeper Robbin Ruiter.
The fact that Oviedo appears to have been demoted to the second string does not bode well if he wanted to stay at Sunderland beyond January.
