Andy Halliday has two years left on his contract at Scottish Premiership giants Rangers but an Ibrox future remains uncertain

Andy Halliday made a big difference when he came off the bench with half an hour to go in Rangers’ Scottish Premiership clash with Dundee on Saturday.
The Gers were only a goal up at the time and Glen Kamara, the impressive 22-year-old Finland international, was starting to boss the game from the centre of the park for Neil McCann’s visitors.
That is, until Halliday was introduced for Greg Docherty on the hour. The 26-year-old midfielder’s season has been a write-off for the most part, failing to make an impression on loan at Azerbaijani outfit FK Qabala before returning to Ibrox in January and finding himself well down the pecking order.

But amid doubts about his long-term future on the blue half of Glasgow, with the likes of Docherty, Graham Dorrans and Ryan Jack for competition, Halliday could not really be doing much more at the moment.
He has become something of an unsung hero in recent weeks, even filling in at left-back when required. And it was Halliday’s introduction that turned the game against Dundee with Rangers hitting the net three times in the final 30 minutes with him on the pitch.

In fact, Halliday was so impressive that some Rangers fans have even started clamouring for him to feature in Murty’s starting XI for the Scottish Cup semi-final clash with bitter rivals Celtic next weekend.
Passionate, hard-working and more versatile than anyone ever imagined, Halliday is taking his future into his own hands.
