West Ham United could bring an end to Danny Drinkwater’s Premier League nightmare at London rivals Chelsea.

Ever since the turn of the year, David Moyes has been scouring the market for a dynamic, box to box midfielder to enhance West Ham United’s ailing midfield.

But links with the likes of Joe Allen, Jonjo Shelvey, Morgan Schneiderlin, Leander Dendoncker, William Carvalho and many, many more came to nothing. In the end, the only midfielder who arrived at the London Stadium in January was Inter Milan loanee Joao Mario, a more attacking and lightweight player than Moyes appeared to be looking for.

But it seems that the former Sunderland boss has finally settled on a new number one target – and is so determined to finally get the midfielder that he’s been looking for that a club record bid is reportedly being prepared.

The Telegraph state that West Ham are willing to pay £30 million to sign Danny Drinkwater from Chelsea this summer – £6 million more than they shelled out for Marko Arnautovic a year ago.

And while that fee looks a little steep for a player who’s started just five Premier League games all season in Chelsea colours, Drinkwater appears to tick a lot of boxes.

Danny Drinkwater of Chelsea FC reacts after the UEFA Champions League group C match between AS Roma and Chelsea FC at Stadio Olimpico on October 31, 2017 in Rome, Italy.

The former Leicester City man, and 2016 league champion, possesses the work-rate and tenacity of an Allen or a Schneiderlin while combining this with the distribution and technical ability of a Shelvey or a Carvalho.

Drinkwater is a mix of both the styles Moyes is looking for. Is he pretty much the Scot’s perfect summer signing?
