Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers have reportedly made two bids for the Mark Warburton favourite, currently tied to Paul Lambert’s Ipswich Town.

Ipswich Town manager Paul Lambert has admitted to the East Anglian Daily Times that Alan Judge is keen to leave Portman Road with a move to Queens Park Rangers on the cards.

It is no secret that Mark Warburton would love to reunite with Judge at QPR.

The pair worked together at Brentford between 2013 and 2015 with the Republic of Ireland international enjoying probably the best spell of his career at Griffin Park, scoring a career-best 14 Championship goals during a stellar season five years ago.

Warburton, speaking to My London, described Judge as a ‘real talent’ during those heady days in red and white stripes. And, even at the age of 30 and with some serious injury problems in his recent past, the experienced midfielder still has a lot to offer.

The EADT reports that QPR have made two bids so far, the biggest reaching £450,000, but Ipswich so far have stood firm and refused to sell – despite the Tractor Boys’ relegation to League One last season.

Though Lambert has admitted that Judge is keen to depart, delivering a potential hammer blow to Ipswich’s hopes of returning to the Championship at the first attempt next year.

“Judgey has spoken to me and I think he would like to go. It’s his prerogative to say what he wants to do, but I don’t know the state of where that’s at,” said the former Aston Villa and Norwich manager when asked whether Judge was keen to join QPR.

“He’s spoken to me and I guess it’s over to Judgey to see what he wants to do. I think he wants to go.”

“He did well for us last season but I’ve had chat with him and he’s indicated he’d like the opportunity.”

Judge would have big shoes to fill at Queens Park Rangers, however.

The Londoners sold star man Luke Freeman to Sheffield United this summer, meaning they have lost their most influential and creative talent in the centre of the park. Is Judge up to the task of succeeding him?
