Nottingham Forest are reportedly willing to loan out Tyler Walker again but will the City Ground striker swap the Championship for League Two?
The chances of Tyler Walker finding first-team opportunities at Nottingham Forest next season look slim.
Aitor Karanka has made signing a new centre-forward, or two, his top priority this summer, which means Walker could fall even further down the pecking order at the City Ground.
The 21-year-old, son of Forest legend Des, struggled during a loan spell at Bolton Wanderers from January until May, failing to score in five Championship games before being demoted to the U23s by manager Phil Parkinson.
According to the Nottingham Post, Walker is one of the young players Karanka would be willing to farm out on loan this summer. And it seems that League Two Mansfield would be only too happy to hand him an opportunity.
“He is someone that, when Mark Warburton was there, I had a keen interest in. I watched him a lot,” Stags boss David Flitcroft told the Chad when asked about possibly signing Walker.
“I’m an admirer of Tyler, 100 percent.”
This does not mean a move to League Two is going to happen, however.
The Nottingham Post points out that Forest would want Walker to play at a higher level than England’s fourth tier, while Mansfield would have to smash their wage ceiling in order to bring him in.
Mansfield finished eighth in League Two last season, missing out on a place in the play-offs.
