Leeds United are planning a raid on Championship rivals Barnsley for Andy Yiadom – but what about Fulham’s Ryan Fredericks?

Leeds United are eyeing an out-of-contract Championship right-back this summer.

According to The Sun (18th March, page 60), Leeds manager Paul Heckingbottom is planning to raid his former club Barnsley to reunite with Andy Yiadom, the Ghanaian international who will be a free-agent by July.

But there is another, arguably better, second tier right-back who is set to leave his current club for absolutely nothing when the season comes to an end.

Ryan Fredericks has been perhaps the finest in his position in the Championship over the last eight months but it seems that he will not be a Fulham player next season, regardless of whether the Cottagers are a Premier League team or not.

The former Tottenham youngster has not yet committed his future to the club and there is no shortage of Premier League interest, with Football London claiming that West Ham have made him one of top their summer transfer targets.

But there is no reason why Leeds should not at least enquire about the possibility of Fredericks moving to Elland Road instead.

Leeds might feel like something of a step down from Fulham for the rampaging full-back, who has a very impressive seven assists this season. But Elland Road is one of the most enticing destinations outside of the Premier League due to the club’s unique history and vociferous fanbase.

Leeds’ interest in Yiadom makes sense, but there is no reason why they should not ask about a slightly better option first.
