Scottish Premiership giants Celtic have been overshadowed by Hibs of late with Scott Allan, Dylan McGeouch and John McGinn starring at Easter Road.

Celtic may be nine points clear and heading towards another league title, but there appears to be a growing opinion that the best midfield in the Scottish Premiership does not reside at Parkhead.

In Dylan McGeouch, John McGinn (below) and Scott Allan, Hibernian have three immensely gifted playmakers who, on their day, are a step above most in the division.

After all three shone in the weekend win against Aberdeen, Hibs winger Martin Boyle added to the almost incessant praise of the fab three.

“It’s unbelievable,” Boyle told the BBC. “You can’t ask for a better three in Scotland when they’re at their best.”

Though if Hibs do have the best midfield in Scotland, Celtic can only really have themselves to blame.

After all, it was they who let McGeouch leave for Easter Road in 2015. The former Parkhead academy graduate made just 27 appearances for the Hoops’ first-team but, after putting his injury problems behind him, has evolved into a real star man at Hibs.

Scott Allan, meanwhile, is back on loan at the side Celtic signed him from in 2015. The Champions were unable to get the best out of the enigmatic midfielder and farmed him out on various loans but he is back to his best on his old stomping ground.

McGinn, meanwhile, has been on Brendan Rodgers’ radar for some time with the Express reporting that Celtic see him as a potential long-term replacement for long-serving skipper Scott Brown.

However, it appears that Celtic have not made a bid in the last two transfer windows and, these days, McGinn would perhaps command a fee that would require the Hoops to smash their transfer record.
