Premier League club West Ham United have been linked with a move for Barcelona’s former Inter Milan loanee Rafinha.

Just a few days ago, the Mirror reported that Manuel Pellegrini was already at odds with the West Ham United owners for an apparent reluctance to back him in the transfer market.

It was reported that Pellegrini, who has been in the job less than three weeks, was growing frustrated having been knocked back in pursuit of some of his top targets. But it seems that West Ham are now doing all they can to prove that they do indeed have big plans this summer.

On the back of reports in the Guardian stating that they will offer £30 million for Lazio winger Felipe Anderson (above), Spanish publication Sport believes West Ham have made an enquiry for Barcelona play-maker Rafinha, who has a market value of around £35 million.

But West Ham fans, after years of false promises and disappointments, are not getting ahead of themselves just yet. They want the club to prove their bite is as strong as their bark and, until Rafinha is posing in claret and blue at the London Stadium, you could see why supporters would be a little pessimistic.

While West Ham are reportedly willing to sign Rafinha, surely their top priority should be a permanent deal for Joao Mario, who the Brazilian ironically replaced at Inter Milan midway through last season as he moved to the San Siro on loan.
