Ryan Manning has impressed since moving to Rotherham United on loan from Championship rivals Queens Park Rangers.
Fortunately for Queens Park Rangers, their form has been impressive enough in recent weeks to cover over the fact that they probably made a mistake loaning Ryan Manning out to Rotherham United in the summer.
Manning emerged as a key player for QPR last season and a number of supporters were left baffled by the decision to send him north to Yorkshire – an opinion shared by former manager Ian Holloway.
Speaking on EFL on Quest (3 November, 9pm) after Manning scored two penalties to help Rotherham to a 2-1 comeback victory against Swansea City on Saturday, Holloway responded to host Colin Murray’s claim that QPR’s decision left him confused.
“I like the kid, I think he’s got a wonderful left foot,” Holloway, who coached QPR between 2001 and 2006 and returned for a two year spell in 2016.
“He’s a fantastic lad, he sums up where Rotherham are. Ryan’s been an excellent signing.”
On the upside for QPR, Manning has not left Loftus Road on a permanent basis so the chances are that he will be back in London soon, especially if he continues to impress under Paul Warne at Rotherham.
QPR will not be allowed to sign players in January due to a transfer embargo, meaning re-calling Manning is an option that should perhaps be considered.
