Emil Forsberg has never been shy about expressing his ambition.

And, speaking to Fotbollskanalen, the Swedish play-maker has once again called his future at Bundesliga club RB Leipzig into doubt.

The 26-year-old has been playing in Germany since 2015, when he signed from Malmo, and has helped transform Leipzig from a second division side into a Champions League team within just three years.

And Forsberg’s fine performances on the left of midfield have inevitably attracted attention from bigger European clubs with Goal reporting that they, as well as Arsenal and Roma, are interested in the play-maker.

Should Jurgen Klopp hope to bring Forsberg to Anfield this summer, he will certainly be feeling confident after the midfielder’s latest comments.

“I’m ready for the next big step. That’s going to be very interesting,” he said. “I am in dialogue with RB and always had a good relationship with the club. I have a dream of playing for the strongest clubs in the world.”

Forsberg has developed a reputation as something of an assist-machine in Germany. He set up 19 goals in 27 Bundesliga starts during the 2016/17 season, more than any other player in Europe.

And Forsberg would be a perfect fit for Liverpool’s midfield, slotting into that left-hand side position that Philippe Coutinho made his own.
