Standard Liege’s Jupiler League winger Edmilson Junior is reportedly interesting West Ham United.

Standard Liege's Junior Edmilson celebrates after scoring a goal during the UEFA Europa League group G football match between Standard Liege and Panathinaikos in Liege on October 20, 2016.

From Felipe Anderson and Rafinha to a little-known forward from Standard Leige, West Ham United really are hedging their bets in pursuit of a new attacking talent.

The Hammers went into the transfer market needing a new creative spark, and that requirement has only increased with the news that Manuel Lanzini has suffered a serious knee injury on international duty and could be out until the New Year.

And Belgian outlet DH is reporting that West Ham are rivalling newly promoted duo Wolves and Fulham for Edmilson Junior; a name that is likely to result in blank expressions and frantic Wikipedia searches.

The 23-year-old is hardly a household name but is one of the most promising talents in Belgian football. Edmilson is a versatile forward who can play on the left, the right or through the middle.

He scored 11 goals in all competitions for Standard last season, including seven in ten play-off games, and also played in the cup final as his side beat Genk.

But it should come as no surprise that some West Ham fans do not seem too impressed. Edmilson might be an exciting talent but supporters are sick of unknown imported additions and want big names and marquee signings – like Rafinha and Felipe Anderson (below). Others, meanwhile, do not expect the under-fire board to have the nous required to secure a deal.
