Leeds United won 1-0 away at Hull City on Tuesday night as Marcelo Bielsa’s side returned to the top of the Championship table.

Was Nigel Adkins being sincere in his bold praise of Leeds United? Or was the Hull City boss simply trying to deflect away from how poor his side were in their 1-0 defeat to Marcelo Bielsa’s side on Tuesday night.
The Yorkshire derby more resembled a training ground exercise at the KCOM Stadium with Hull unable to really lay a glove on a Leeds side who were not even anywhere near their best.
A well-taken Tyler Roberts goal early in the second half sealed a 1-0 win for The Whites, who boasted 67 per cent possession and created far more chances even if all but one of them went begging.

And, speaking after the game, Adkins suggested that his side simply couldn’t compete with Bielsa’s table-topping Leeds.
“Leeds are one of the best sides I’ve seen in the Championship for a very long time,” the under-fire Hull boss told The Times. “We’re not on a level playing field with them and they’ll take some sides to the cleaners.
“It will be them and Middlesbrough who end the season in the top two.”

And the Hull fans are far from impressed. Adkins’ claims that he enjoyed the ‘tactical battle’ with Bielsa would surely only carry some weight if Hull had shown any ability to compete during 90 dismal minutes on Humberside, after all.
And suggesting that Hull simply didn’t have a chance is hardly the positive attitude the club need as they fall to 21st in the Championship table.
