With only one goal so far this season, the pressure is on Hull’s first-choice striker to deliver.
Hull City striker Abel Hernandez admits he needs to rediscover his form in front of goal if Mike Phelan’s strugglers are to turn round their season, according to the club’s Twitter account.
The Uruguayan international netted 20 times in 39 Championship appearances last season to fire the Tigers back to the top flight at the first time of asking, but has struggled to replicate that form in the Premier League.
Hull’s Player of the Year has found the back of the net only once this term, in an impressive away win at Swansea City on match-day two, but his subsequent goal drought has coincided with his team’s alarming drop in form.

And Hernandez has admitted that the newly promoted side will be relying upon him to relocate his shooting boots in the coming months if they are to ensure their stay in the top flight lasts more than a single campaign.
“My key role in the team is to get goals, so it’s frustrating when I’m not scoring,” said the former Palermo striker, as reported by Hull’s official website.
“I’m just going to have to keep going. I am positive the goals will come for me. We have some important games to come before the New Year and I want to play a key part for the team and help us retain our place in the Premier League this season.”

Hernandez enjoyed a bright start to life in English after arriving in a club-record £10 million deal in 2014, as reported by the BBC, netting a sublime header on his Premier League debut against West Ham and scoring against both Manchester City and Arsenal before losing his form dramatically in the remaining months of the season.
And Hull will be hoping his second attempt at cracking the top flight will prove to be a lot more successful than the first in the long run, though his tally of one in nine so far suggests such optimism may be misplaced.
