Croatia’s World Cup star Domagoj Vida looks to be on his way to the Premier League, but will he join Everton or Liverpool on Merseyside?

Besiktas ace Domagoj Vida has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League after starring at the World Cup, helping Croatia reach the final for the first time in the nation’s history.

Plenty of sides have been linked but, according to the 29-year-old’s agent, clubs from Merseyside are leading the race.

Liverpool and Everton have been the two clubs most heavily tipped to sign Vida before the transfer window shuts in just over a fortnight. And Ugur Avadan, who represents the experienced centre-back, has now claimed that both clubs have made an offer.

“It is normal for there to be interest what is important is that the offers satisfy Besiktas and then Vida,” Avadan said in quotes reported by Ajansspor. “Liverpool and Everton are huge clubs that have made offers.

“Barcelona scouted Vida and had him on their shortlist but I do not see a move there happening. Atletico Madrid and Sevilla are also interested from Spain.”

As it stands, however, it seems that Anfield is a more likely destination than Goodison Park for a player who has spent most of his career in Eastern Europe with the likes of Dinamo Zagreb and Dynamo Kiev.

A Spor has claimed that Vida has agreed a two-year deal in principle with Jurgen Klopp’s side with the Reds set to pay around £22 million.

Vida will join his Croatian centre-back partner Dejan Lovren at Anfield.
