The Terriers have a decent back line, an impressive midfield and a few lively wingers but the lack of a reliable striker looks set to cost David Wagner’s side their Premier League status.
Huddersfield are eight points from safety after a typically goalless draw against Cardiff City on Saturday, meaning they have scored just 13 goals in 22 games.
But could Shinji Okazaki make a much needed difference in attack? According to Sky Sports, David Wagner has identified the Japan international as a potential target in the January transfer window.
And, after starting just one Premier League game all season and having been left out of the 2-1 home defeat to Southampton at the weekend, Sky reports that Okazaki could be open to a move to Huddersfield as he wants to bid farewell to the King Power Stadium.
The Terriers face a problem, however, with the report adding that Leicester want to keep the 32-year-old due to a lack of depth at centre-forward.
Okazaki joined The Foxes in a £7.5 million deal from Bundesliga outfit Mainz in 2015 (The Independent) and he was a key player as Claudio Ranieri’s side won the Premier League three years ago.
