Newcastle United are expected to bid for Club Brugge attacker Limbombe but Premier League rivals Huddersfield Town have reportedly made the first move.
The chase for Anthony Limbombe is well and truly on.
Belgian publication HLN reports that Newcastle United are planning to make a bid for the Club Brugge attacker at some point this week. But Huddersfield Town have allegedly made the first move.
23-year-old Limbombe was one of the most in-form attacking players in Belgium last season, scoring six and setting up another six as Club Brugge won the Jupiler League title.
The one-time Belgium international is an explosive talent renowned for cutting inside from the wing and firing powerful shots at goal.
He made his name during a spell in the Eredivisie with NEC Nijmegen in 2015/16, scoring seven times in 32 games.
And Limbombe would be the second big-name signing Huddersfield have made this summer after landing Terrence Kongolo from Monaco.
Fortunately for the Terriers, the Chronicle claims that Newcastle have been handed a budget of just £40 million, meaning they might even have to drop their interest in Salomon Rondon.
It remains to be seen whether they can realistically challenge Huddersfield with Limbombe’s price likely to rise.
