Everton are reportedly ready to pay £16m to sign Plattenhardt from Hertha Berlin but Premier League rivals Huddersfield Town are allegedly keen, too.

Marvin Plattenhardt’s World Cup did not go to plan.
The Hertha Berlin defender was given the nod over Jonas Hector to start Germany’s first game in Russia but, one goal down against Mexico and with 79 minutes on the clock, he was hauled off and did not play again as Joachim Low’s holders were knocked out in the group stage.
Fortunately for Plattenhardt, however, this does not appear to have reduced any Premier League interest in his services.

Sky Sports claimed recently that Leicester City were keen on the attack-minded left-back, while the Daily Star (June 17, page 48) stated that he was set to join Everton in a £16 million deal after the World Cup.
Blessed with a wand of a left foot and pinpoint delivery, Plattenhardt looked like the perfect long-term successor for Leighton Baines.

Plattenhardt would be an obvious upgrade on either Chris Lowe or Scott Malone in the Yorkshire side’s starting XI, but it remains to be seen whether Huddersfield are willing to match the £16 million Everton would reportedly pay.
