Premier League giants Chelsea were reportedly leading the race to sign Adama Traore from Middlesbrough but could Huddersfield Town be interested, too?

Little Huddersfield Town are not so little anymore.

The Terriers are heading into their second Premier League season and, thanks to the riches on offer in the top flight of English football, they appear to have ambitious plans in the transfer market.

Sky Sports reported at the weekend that Huddersfield were keen on signing AC Milan’s £33 million striker Andre Silva in a deal that would comfortably shatter the club’s transfer record.

And in the latest odds provided by BetVictor, Huddersfield have been made the 6/4 joint-favourites with Chelsea to sign Middlesbrough’s flying winger Adama Traore.

It is expected that the former Barcelona youngster will be on his way out of the Riverside this summer after Boro fell at the semi-final stage of the Championship play-offs. Traore scored five goals and set up ten more last season, appearing to finally add the end product that was so famously missing from his game.

Traore would not come cheap, however. The Mirror stated last month that Chelsea were leading the chase for the 22-year-old, who has been valued at £30 million.

But the Yorkshire high-flyers have shown a willingness to spend big already this summer, France Football claiming that they were in talks with Monaco to sign last season’s loanee Terence Kongolo for a fee that could be up to £18 million.

Beating Chelsea to Traore, however, would be a much bigger statement.
