Leeds United were linked with Ostersunds’s Allsvenskan forward Hosam Aiesh last month.

Ostersunds winger Hosem Aiesh has hinted at interest from Leeds United, telling Fotbollskanalen that there is ‘no smoke without fire’ when asked about speculation linking him with Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
Back in June, Fotboll Direkt claimed that the West Yorkshire giants had sent scouts to Sweden to watch a pair of Ostersunds forwards – right-sided midfielder Aiesh and target man Dino Islamovic.
A 24-year-old forward who made his debut for the Swedish national team earlier this year, Aiesh was one of the standout players in the Allsvenskan last season, producing 15 assists in all competitions with his direct dribbling and intelligent use of the ball ripping apart plenty of opposition backlines.
And, in an interview with Fotbollskanalen, Aiesh has been asked directly about speculation linking him with Leeds. His response was particularly interesting.
“There is no smoke without fire. There are clubs that are right (to be reported as interested), then there are clubs that I do not know if that (speculation) is true,” he said.
“They can be interested and scout matches without me knowing about it. I actually keep track of who is sitting in the stands.
“But there is great interest and there have been many phone calls about me. It looks positive, but if it does not happen now, I will continue to perform here in Ostersunds.”

Reading between the lines, it seems that Aiesh is fully aware of Leeds’ interest. Whether the Championship giants will now make a move remains to be seen.
Leeds have already signed Helder Costa from Wolves and he is likely to play on the right of Bielsa’s attack last season, while Jack Harrison and Jack Clarke have also returned to Elland Road.
Is there still room for Aiesh?
