Leeds United host Championship rivals Barnsley at Elland Road on Saturday and Bailey Peacock-Farrell might have another busy day.
Bailey Peacock-Farrell has not kept a single clean sheet in the eight Championship games since he usurped Felix Wiedwald to become Leeds United’s number one goalkeeper.
But the 21-year-old cannot really be blamed for failing to keep the ball out of his net in each of those encounters. Peacock-Farrell, who had only made one senior appearance before last month, has been a shining light in a dismal run of form for Leeds.
At times, he has been a one-man barricade preventing Paul Heckingbottom from further embarrassment. Peacock-Farrell’s virtuoso display in the 1-1 home draw with Sunderland recently was nothing short of sensational.
So, while praising his development, Leeds are hoping that the Darlington-born shot-stopper does not have so many shots to stop as relegation threatened Yorkshire rivals Barnsley make the short trip to Elland Road on Saturday afternoon.
The Tykes may be in the bottom three right now and two points adrift of safety but they also boast one of the league’s most in-form frontmen – the eight-goal Swansea loanee Oli McBurnie.
If Leeds give the 21-year-old chances, it is going to be another difficult 90 minutes for Peacock-Farrell. And, given the way Leeds have defended of late, this seems unlikely to be a quiet day at the office.
