Premier League newcomers Aston Villa reportedly want to sign Olympiakos captain Omar Elabdellaoui in 2020 and they will reportedly scout him tonight.

The Halloween decorations have only just started to appear in your local supermarket but the January transfer window rumours are already in full swing.

According to the Mail, Aston Villa are set to send scouts to Bucharest tonight to take in a Euro 2020 qualifier between Romania and Norway. Why? Because the Midland giants apparently want to check out Omar Ellabdellaoui before potentially signing the Olympiakos captain after the turn of the year.

Ellabdellaoui is out of contract next summer and the fact that he could be available for a cut-price fee in the winter hasn’t gone unnoticed with Celtic, Leicester City, Watford, Burnley and Bournemouth apparently interested too.

Villa’s apparent interest in a barnstorming right-back will surely cast doubt over the future of Ahmed Elmohamady, who is 32 now and has less than two years remaining on his contract. And for all of Frederic Guilbert’s potential, it remains to be seen whether he is really going to make the grade in the Premier League with the former Caen flying proving exciting yet rather erratic so far.

Elabdellaoui, meanwhile, is experienced, a natural leader and proven in the Champions League while entering the prime of his career. He has also played for Manchester City and Hull with the Premier League no alien division to a well-travelled 27-year-old.
