Despite being heavily tipped to leave, Rangers manager Steven Gerrard could reportedly keep Joe Dodoo at Ibrox.

There are plenty of examples of a fringe player looking like a lost cause until being rejuvenated by a new manager. And it seems that Steven Gerrard is seeing something in Joe Dodoo that most observers have been missing.
Because Football Ghana reports that the 22-year-old attacker will be handed a clean slate by Gerrard at Ibrox. The 37-year-old will officially start work on Friday and it is understood that he wants to give Dodoo the chance to prove himself despite previous reports suggesting that the former Leicester City youngster would be one of the first out the door.

And, understandably, news of Dodoo’s potential stay has had a mixed response.
Rangers’ forgotten man played just twice for the first-team last season, in cup clashes against Fraserburgh and Falkirk, after returning from a dreadful loan spell at Charlton Athletic in which he failed to start a single League One game.
But Dodoo, who scored a hat-trick on his professional debut for Leicester against Bury in 2015, showed glimpses of his potential in his first campaign at Ibrox, particularly in that stunning strike during the 3-0 win away at Aberdeen.

If Rangers are to improve, they need to be ruthless and cut the fat from a bloated squad. Time will tell if Dodoo seizes what could, and should, be his last chance.
