Ahmed Musa failed in the Premier League with Leicester City – so why would Wolverhampton Wanderers sign him this summer?

Wolverhampton Wanderers were supposed to take the transfer market by storm this summer.
Backed by their billionaire Chinese owners and aided by the connections of renowned super-agent Jorge Mendes, Premier League clubs could be forgiven for looking nervously over their shoulder as Wolves cruised to the Championship title. But, if they are to prove that their bark is as dangerous as their bite, making offer for players like Ahmed Musa is not the way to go.
And no wonder the fans are a little confused.

Musa was nothing short of a disaster for Leicester following his £16 million move from CSKA Moscow in the summer of 2016. The Nigerian speedster started just seven Premier League games in his debut season and, after falling well down the pecking order, returned to former club CSKA on loan in January.
Though Musa has scored five goals in nine Russian Premier League appearances in the last few months, he is not the kind of ambitious, marquee signing the fans were dreaming of.
Musa is a forward with pace, skill and, on his day, lethal finishing. Maybe Leicester was just not the right fit, but if the 25-year-old does move to Molineux, he’ll be arriving under scrutiny.
