Championship duo Boro and Forest were both linked with St Etienne’s forgotten man Leo Lacroix a few months ago.

In the final few hours of the January transfer window, Leo Lacroix found himself being linked with a move to two of the Championship’s biggest clubs. Apparently, Boro and Forest were both keen on recruiting the 6ft 6ins Swiss international, as reported by Bild.
In the end, however, Middlesbrough ran out of time while Nottingham Forest instead snapped up Molla Wague on loan.
So with just over a month until the new Championship season kicks off, the fact that Lacroix looks set to become a free agent, according to France Football, should not pass either club by.
The 27-year-old was playing Champions League knockout stage football with Basel a year ago. Now, St Etienne are set to terminate his contract, despite the fact that Lacroix still has one year left on his current deal with Les Verts.

Nottingham Forest, in particular, could benefit from his height and ball-playing style with Wague returning to Udinese and Michael Dawson well past his best.
