Premier League Wolverhampton Wanderers should go all out for Bernd Leno now with Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen seemingly giving up hope.

Wolverhampton Wanderers appear to have identified Rui Patricio as their number one goalkeeping target but they should not forget about Bernd Leno.

According to the Express and Star, Wolves could make another bid for the Sporting Lisbon goalkeeper after previously agreeing £15.8 million fee, only for the deal to collapse.

But with an unseemly disagreement developing between Sporting and Jorge Mendes’ Gestifute agency, there is no guarantee that the Portugal number one will be playing at Molineux next season.

So with Bayer Leverkusen seemingly giving up hope in their attempts to keep hold of Leno this summer, Wolves have a decision to make.

German outlet Fussball Transfers claimed last month that Wolves had entered talks with Leno, who is understood to be valued at around £20 million.

Speaking to Bild, Leverkusen’s Sporting Director Rudi Voller has stated: “Leno can leave but only on our terms.”

“We thought Bernd’s desire to leave would resurface so and so with the arrival of Lukas Hradecky (signed from Eintracht Frankfurt) we have a high quality successor.”

It is understood that Arsenal remain interested in the 26-year-old, who missed out on a place in Germany’s World Cup squad, while Napoli need a replacement for Pepe Reina and came close to signing Leno last summer.

But, with a deal for Patricio far from certain, Leno should be at the forefront of Wolves’ thoughts once again.
