Scottish Premiership champions Celtic reportedly wanted Rafa Mir before he joined Premier League outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers from Valencia.

After just two substitute appearances, it seems that Wolverhampton Wanderers could be about to cash in on Rafa Mir.

It is no secret that Wolves want to sign a new striker in the January transfer window and that could push the 21-year-old, who signed from Valencia for £1.5 million 10 months ago, further down the pecking order.

And La Razon reports that Wolves will sell Mir should they receive an offer of £6 million. The Spain U21 international is currently on loan at Las Palmas and the Segunda side would love to sign him permanently if they are promoted, with Sevilla also keen.

But Wolves’ decision to sell has surely opened the door for Celtic too.

Super Deporte reported in 2017 that Celtic were hoping to sign the goal-scoring starlet after he caused no end of problems for The Hoops in a UEFA Youth League game against Valencia. Mir scored 15 goals for Los Che’s B team in the 2017/18 season.

And he is exactly the sort of player that could thrive under Brendan Rodgers at Celtic, with the former Liverpool and Swansea boss having helped fresh-faced young talents like Kieran Tierney, Moussa Dembele and Raheem Sterling fulfil their potential in his managerial career.

With Dembele having departed for Lyon on deadline day too, there is a space in Celtic’s squad for a new striker and Mir could fit the bill. At £6 million, he wouldn’t break the bank either.
