Manchester United star Paul Pogba made his name at Le Havre and another French starlet could reportedly join Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Wolverhampton Wanderers are ‘hoping to conclude’ a deal to sign young midfielder Meddah Daylam but Le Havre are having none of it so far, according to L’Equipe.
Wolves might have spent a huge amount of money reinforcing their first-team squad over the last few years, breaking their transfer record to sign the likes of Ruben Neves, Adama Traore and Raul Jimenez.
But the Premier League high-flyers are planning for the future, as well as the present. They might have flown under the radar but a number of talented youngsters have arrived at Molineux of late with former PSG youth captain Raphael Nya signing for the Black County giants back in June.
Wolves were keen to snap up another teenage talent from across the Channel too.
Paul Pogba, Riyad Mahrez and Benjamin Mendy all passed through the ranks of Le Havre before making their name elsewhere and Daylam certainly has the raw talent to follow in their footsteps.
L’Equipe claims that Wolves were hoping to snap up the precocious midfielder, although Le Havre have so far rejected their advances and are now moving to tie him down to a professional contract.
Yet don’t expect Wolves to give up just yet. Pogba spent two years at Le Havre before moving to England for a first spell at Manchester United in 2009 and Daylam shares a few similarities with the French World Cup winner.
