There is reportedly Premier League interest in Red Bull Salzburg’s Amadou Haidara and Porto’s Primeira Liga champions Hector Herrera.

Roy Hodgson, Manager of Crystal Palace reacts during the Premier League match between Arsenal and Crystal Palace at Emirates Stadium on January 20, 2018 in London, England.

Much has been made of Crystal Palace’s lack of goals this season, with Alexander Sorloth struggling to impress, Jordan Ayew out of his depth and Christian Benteke a shadow of the fearsome target man he once was.

But this has perhaps overshadowed a lack of creativity and thrust in central midfield. Though much was made of the signing of Max Meyer on a free from Schalke, the fact is that The Eagles have not managed to replace either Yohan Cabaye or Ruben Loftus-Cheek – which perfectly explains why they are hoping to bring Hector Herrera to Selhurst Park in the New Year.

According to Record, Crystal Palace are one of a number of clubs after the influential Porto skipper, who combines Cabaye’s passing range with Loftus-Cheek’s energy and dynamism.

It is reported that London rivals Tottenham Hotspur have been keeping tabs on the Mexican midfielder too (Calciomercato), but the latest reports appear to indicate that Palace is in the driving seat heading into the January transfer window.

Sky Sports are claiming that Spurs are targeting 20-year-old Salzburg whizz-kid Amadou Haidara as they prepare for life without Moussa Dembele. Haidara has emerged as one of Europe’s most promising midfielders, helping Salzburg win the Austrian Bundesliga and reach the Europa League semi-finals last season with his all-action, box-to-box displays.

And though Haidara has agreed a move to Salzburg’s sister club RB Leipzig, it seems that Spurs haven’t given up hope of hijacking the deal.

Crystal Palace will certainly be in their corner. Because, if Haidara moves to North London, that would remove one major obstacle in the race for Herrera.
