Scottish Premiership giants Rangers reportedly want Connor Goldson and Reece Burke from Premier League duo Brighton and West Ham United.

This time last year, Rangers attempted to shore up their porous back line by signing two Portuguese centre-backs at either end of their careers.
Fabio Cardoso arrived from Vitoria Setubal for £1.3 million while the 36-year-old Bruno Alves rocked up on a free from Cagliari, 12 months after helping Portugal win Euro 2016.
But, according to the Scottish Sun, both Cardoso and Alves are expected to be shoved out the door this summer as part of a substantial overhaul, which speaks volumes about how their debut seasons at Ibrox panned out. After failed attempts with imported additions who, in truth, never really got to grips with British football, it seems Rangers are now trying a whole new approach.
Steven Gerrard’s Rangers have been linked with two young, up-and-coming centre-backs who will be desperate to prove themselves at senior level.

And the Mirror is claiming that Reece Burke of West Ham is also in Gerrard’s sights. The 21-year-old was mightily impressive on loan at Bolton, and the Hammers are allegedly considering loaning him out again with Rangers keen.

Burke and Goldson are two players who have real talent but just need an opportunity to show it. Rangers could give them the platform they need.
And the fact that Rangers are looking at promising, homegrown talents suggests they have learned their lessons from last year’s ill-fitting imports.
