Scottish Premiership giants Rangers scouted Dundee midfielder Glen Kamara – and then drew 5-5 with Hibernian at Easter Road.

And, 24 hours later, Rangers were dealt a clear reminder just why they need the 22-year-old at Ibrox next season.
Rangers were a defensive shambles in their remarkable 5-5 draw against Hibernian on Sunday. And while such a result may be put down to one of those famous last day oddities, this is not the first time Rangers have collapsed of late and this should have incoming manager Steven Gerrard a little concerned.

In the last month, Rangers lost twice to Celtic by an aggregate score of 9-0. They also conceded two against Motherwell and three against Hamilton since the turn of the year.
And while it is easy to blame the backline, with Russell Martin, Bruno Alves and co coming in for huge criticism, defending is a team game and the midfield must shoulder some share of the responsibility.
Which perhaps explains why Rangers have been tracking a combative, steely midfielder like Kamara or, according to the Scottish Sun, Kilmarnock’s 31-year-old Youssouf Mulumbu.

The likes of Jason Holt, Greg Docherty and Graham Dorrans provide energy aplenty but Rangers need a man who can dominate a game and ensure they do not get overrun in the centre of the park, as seen at Easter Road.
Kamara, who is understood to be valued at around £600,000, is exactly the kind of player that should ensure shipping five goals is a thing of the past.
