Rangers were linked with Manchester City youngster Brandon Barker but have now landed Ryan Kent, so could Hull City move for the former?

A month ago today, the Scottish Sun claimed that Rangers manager Steven Gerrard wanted to sign Brandon Barker on a temporary basis from Manchester City.
But, four weeks on, Rangers have landed a different Premier League winner on a season-long loan. Gerrard has used his Liverpool connections to bring Ryan Kent to Ibrox, the speedy wide man joining his fellow Anfield youngster Ovie Ejaria in Glasgow.
And this is good news for Hull City.
It is understood by the Sun that Hull are keen to land Barker on loan for the 2018/19 season and their hopes of a deal have surely been boosted by Rangers’ decision to bring Kent north of the border.
Barker is a similar player to Kent, both direct and pacey left-wingers with an eye for goal. The former shone in Scotland last season with Hibernian, scoring and assisting five goals in the Premiership for Neil Lennon’s side.

It would make little sense, however, for Rangers to bring in Barker now, especially with Scott Arfield and Josh Windass both capable of filling in on the left flank, too.
So now is the time for Hull to press ahead with what could be one of the best loan signings of the Championship season. Although Barker will be under pressure to match the exploits of Harry Wilson, who scored seven goals in 11 starts for the Tigers during a spell from Liverpool in 2017/18.
