Sheffield United and Nottingham Forest are two of the Championship sides who have been linked with Ipswich Town forward Martyn Waghorn.

Sheffield United have made a bid to make Martyn Waghorn the most expensive signing in their history.
According to The Mail (live blog, 9.54am) on Thursday, The Blades have offered £5 million for the Ipswich Town striker, who scored 16 goals and set up another 11 in a terrific debut season with The Tractor Boys.
But it seems that Sheffield United will have to raise their bid further. It is understood by the Sheffield Star that Chris Wilder’s side have been quoted £7.5 million for a player who moved to Ipswich from Rangers for just £250,000 last summer.
And it is believed that talks are taking place with the 28-year-old, who started his career at Sunderland, understood to be interested in a move back up north.
Fortunately for Sheffield United, their hopes of landing Waghorn could certainly have been helped by Nottingham Forest.

The Mirror (live blog, 1.38pm) claimed in June that Forest were interested in landing Waghorn this summer too but they have since signed both Lewis Grabban and El Arabi Hillel Soudani. With Daryl Murphy and Ben Brereton also at the City Ground, it seems that there is no real need for another striker.
So the ball is most certainly in Sheffield United’s court. The question now is whether they will pay £7.5 million.
