Wolverhampton Wanderers will have to smash their transfer record to tempt Championship rivals Norwich City into the sale of James Maddison.

Norwich City have lost one half of their play-making duo already this month, and there must be fears bubbling inside every Carrow Road match-goer that the other will not be far behind.
And although the Canaries have slapped a £20 million price-tag on the head of the influential James Maddison, as reported by The Standard, that might not put off suitors who have been enamoured by the 21-year-old’s masterful performances and series of stunning goals.

As reported by the Express and Star, big-spending Championship leaders Wolves are one of the sides admiring Maddison from afar. And with the club already preparing for life in the Premier League, their Chinese investors are unlikely to have many qualms about paying £20 million to take Maddison away from Carrow Road.
And Wolves’ hopes might have been given a boost with the news that Norwich are preparing a bid to sign Aberdeen’s highly-rated midfielder Kenny McLean before the end of this month, according to the Scottish Sun.
The 25-year-old Scotland international, who has been one of the best midfielders in the top flight over the last two seasons as Aberdeen twice finished second behind Celtic, is out of contract at the end of the season.

So the Dons may be tempted to cash in now to prevent McLean, who played with Maddison during his loan spell at Aberdeen last season, leaving on a free in the summer.
And while McLean is not quite on Maddison’s level, he would offer a similarly creative threat in the centre of the park. Maybe Norwich are already looking for a player to replace their talisman before waving him goodbye.
