Former Club Brugge left-back Laurens De Bock has become Leeds United’s second signing of the January transfer window.

It remains to be seen whether Leeds United have now solved their left-back problem. But the addition of Laurens De Bock from Club Brugge is a major step in the right direction.
According to The Yorkshire Evening Post, the Belgian has signed a four-and-a-half year deal at Elland Road after Leeds agreed to pay the Jupiler League side £1.5 million for his signature.
And he will give manager Thomas Christiansen a more natural option on the left hand side of his defence, with the right-footed duo Gaetano Berardi and Vurnon Anita not entirely convincing in the position.

But it will be interesting to see what De Bock’s arrival means for another Leeds player. Particularly as they have announced that the 25-year-old will wear the number 12 shirt that was handed to Marcus Antonsson at the start of the season.
Antonsson was shipped out on loan to Blackburn Rovers shortly after the 2017/18 squad numbers were announced. And while the Swede has found some semblance of form with the League One promotion pushers, netting eight times in all competitions, it is as yet unknown whether he has a future at Elland Road.

But the fact that De Bock will now be wearing his number 12 perhaps does not bode well for Antonsson’s chances of a second chance in West Yorkshire.
