It has been a somewhat quiet summer for Wolverhampton Wanderers but Fulham are reportedly still looking to spend big – very big.

Blessed with billionaire Chinese investors and the pulling power of influential super-agent Jorge Mendes, it was expected that Wolverhampton Wanderers would be one of the most exciting newly promoted Premier League sides in years.

But, despite having cash to burn and with genuine ambitions of a top-six finish according to the Mirror, it has been a somewhat quiet summer in the transfer market.

Wolves have completed seven first-team signings so far this summer and five of those were for players who spent last season on loan at Molineux. The only two new faces are Raul Jimenez and Rui Patricio.

And, while both are big-name signings, a Mexican international striker and Portugal’s long-serving number one, the fans might have expected a little more as Wolevs aim to take the Premier League by storm.

In fact, you could make the case that Fulham have looked the more ambitious of the top flight newcomers so far. The Cottagers have obliterated their transfer record to pull off the quite amazing signing of Jean Michel Seri, a truly top class midfielder who had been linked with Chelsea, Arsenal, PSG and Barcelona.

Maxime Le Marchand, who arrived along with Seri from Nice, is a solid Ligue 1 defender and more than likely an upgrade on Fulham’s existing options.

And, while Wolves are a little quiet on the transfer front right now, AS claims Fulham have made an offer for Espanyol’s £35 million captain David Lopez while The Sun has linked them with an incredible swoop for Bordeaux’s thrilling Brazilian winger Malcom.

Maybe Fulham are the team to watch after all.
