Everton are hoping to lure Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw to Goodison Park which may be a result of their 4-0 Premier League thrashing at Spurs.

Anyone who watched Cuco Martina’s performance in Everton’s defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday will know exactly which position the Toffees need to strengthen this month.
The Curacao international has been forced to fill in at left-back over recent months with Leighton Baines injured, but proved in Saturday’s 4-0 trouncing at Wembley that he lacks both the defensive awareness and the attacking technique to be anywhere near good enough for a side with Everton’s ambition.
Martina was caught out of position again and again as Spurs right-back Serge Aurier wandered down the Everton left. The Ivorian full-back set up the opening goal for Heung-min Son with Martina nowhere to be seen.

Everton fans should be thrilled to learn, then, that a deal to bring Manchester United’s Luke Shaw to Goodison Park this month may still be on the cards.
The Daily Star claims that Everton are still hopeful of signing the former Southampton flyer despite the fact he has managed to force his way back into Jose Mourinho’s side in recent weeks, including the 2-0 win at Goodison Park on New Year’s Day.

It is understood that Everton could make a loan offer for Shaw, who cost United £30 million from Southampton in the summer of 2014, before the end of this month.
And with the memories of Martina’s latest defensive horror show still fresh in the mind, Shaw would surely receive a warm welcome at Goodison Park.
