Everton were reportedly hoping to sign Wilfried Zaha from Premier League rivals Crystal Palace.

Wilfried Zaha of Crystal Palace is awarded with the EA SPORTS Player of the Month for April on May 8, 2018 in Beckenham, England.

Everton might just have lost their best possible trump card in the ambitious attempts to bring Wilfried Zaha to Goodison Park.

The Mail recently claimed that Marco Silva would love to make the Crystal Palace talisman his first signing on Merseyside. But the London club are demanding a frankly obscene £70 million for a player who has evolved into one of the Premier League’s most influential attackers.

The Mail added that Everton could have been willing to cash in on Yannick Bolasie in an attempt to raise funds for a club-record bid for the former Manchester United attacker.

But Bolasie, who joined Everton for £28 million in 2016 from Crystal Palace, is understood to have agreed terms over a loan move to Turkish outfit Fenerbahce, according to Fanatik. This obviously means Everton won’t raise any money via the sale of the Congolese speedster.

Furthermore, Everton have might have missed a trick. Bolasie was a big fans’ favourite at Palace, even outshining Zaha until moving to Merseyside two years ago.

And although Zaha has blossomed into the better player, offering Bolasie in exchange might just have made Palace that little bit more willing to consider letting their star man head to the North West.
