Nottingham Forest failed to lure Frederik Ronnow to the Championship in August but fellow suitors Crystal Palace now have alternative targets in mind.

Wayne Hennessey stood out as Crystal Palace edged a narrow 1-0 win against Burnley on Saturday to maintain their remarkable resurgence under Roy Hodgson.
But the fact the Welsh international has been rotated with 38-year-old veteran Julian Speroni in recent months does not exactly suggest that Hodgson has absolute faith in his goalkeeping options.
So it is little surprise that the former England manager appears to be overhauling the shot-stopping department at Selhurst Park this month.
As reported by the Guardian, Crystal Palace have made a £3.5 million bid for Getafe’s Vicente Guaita, although their pursuit has been complicated as the La Liga club have had second thoughts about cashing in on the former Valencia man.

The Sun has stated that Palace have an alternative in mind and are in talks with Ipswich Town over the singing of Bartosz Bialkowski. The Eagles are prepared to pay £3.5 million but Ipswich want a little more for their first-choice goalkeeper.
And Nottingham Forest should be watching developments over at Selhurst Park with interest. Because their hopes of finally bringing Frederik Ronnow to the City Ground, as reported by The Mirror (22nd December, page 50), could get a whole lot easier if Palace sign either Guaita or Bialkowski this month.
Palace were also in the race to sign Denmark international Ronnow this summer, expressing their interest after the ‘keeper had turned down Forest. It was understood that the Brondby star was concerned about moving to a club in England’s second tier.

But Ronnow admitted he was keen to make a move to a bigger league to boost his World Cup hopes and, with Palace seemingly eyeing up other targets, Nottingham Forest could be the only English club making an offer to the 25-year-old this month.
