Scottish Premiership powerhouses Rangers reportedly want a centre-back in January with Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Dominic Iorfa a target.

Rangers never looked like conceding in their hugely impressive 1-0 win against Old Firm rivals Celtic in December, but that does not mean Steven Gerrard is likely to shelve any attempts to bring a new centre-half to Ibrox in the January transfer window.
The Sun claimed that Rangers are interested in signing the Wolves defender Dominic Iorfa for a bargain fee of £500,000 with the England U21 international having failed to make a single Premier League appearance for Nuno Espirito Santo this season.
But have Rangers’ hopes suffered a rather untimely blow? After all, Wolves have already decided to cash in on their other out-of-favour centre-back, with Kortney Hause set to join Midland rivals Aston Villa for £2 million, as reported by the Mail.
Now, Iorfa might be behind Connor Coady, Ryan Bennett and Willy Boly in the pecking order but it would be risky in the extreme for Wolves to sell him in the same window as Hause.

After all, an injury or two, or a dreaded suspension, would leave Nuno short of options with neither Romain Saiss nor Leander Dendoncker natural centre-halves.
So the sensible approach for Rangers may be to cast the net a little wider in the search for a centre-half to provide competition for Connor Goldson, Ryan Katic and Joe Worrall at Ibrox.
