Aston Villa have forced their way into the Championship play-offs since Tyrone Mings joined on loan from Premier League outfit Bournemouth.

Has Tyrone Mings just dropped a hint about his future?

The defender has been hugely impressive since he joined Aston Villa on loan from Bournemouth in January, reminding everyone why the Premier League outfit paid £8 million for him in the summer of 2015 (the Guardian).

Mings has started 11 Championship games for Villa already, providing the platform for a remarkable upturn in fortunes that has Dean Smith’s side in the play-off positions with just a few weeks remaining in another topsy-turvy season in England’s second tier.

So Aston Villa would surely jump at the chance to sign Mings on a permanent basis in the summer, if Bournemouth are willing to cash in that is.

And Mings’ activity on social media suggests he would not be against the idea of committing his future to the Midland giants, liking a Tweet from an Aston Villa fan who clearly wants him to stick around.

The Mirror (23 January, page 49) reported that Nottingham Forest and Derby County wanted to sign Mings before the former Ipswich Town powerhouse joined Aston Villa three months ago.

Their loss, however, is most certainly Dean Smith’s gain with his side looking like real candidates for promotion as things stand.
