Celtic let Stuart Findlay leave for Newcastle United and now he is starring on loan at Kilmarnock.
Celtic may have signed who they thought was the most exciting defensive prospect in the Scottish Premiership in January when Jack Hendry arrived from Dundee.
But the £1.5 million man has been overshadowed in the last few weeks by a player who was released by Celtic just two years ago.
Stuart Findlay has had a fine season on loan at Kilmarnock from Newcastle United and showed his former club what they are missing on Wednesday night. Steve Clarke’s Killie defended stoutly at Parkhead, securing a goalless draw against the champions.
And Findlay was one of their standout performers, holding firm alongside Scott Boyd at centre-half.
So Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers would be forgiven for wondering why his club did not decide to tie down the 22-year-old on a long-term contract before he left for Tyneside.
Then again, Findlay’s impressive display in midweek should perhaps convince Celtic to give the former Scotland U21 ace a second chance in green and white.
Findlay’s Newcastle contract expires in the summer and he has already claimed that he has been told he has no future at the Premier League side.
On last night’s evidence, Celtic should not wait around with a chance to re-sign a player they never should have let go staring them in the face.
