Scottish Premiership giants Celtic made a deadline day move to sign goalkeeper Simon Eastwood from League One Oxford United.

Before Celtic sealed the loan signing of Scott Bain from Dundee on transfer deadline day, the club made an enquiry for Oxford United goalkeeper Simon Eastwood.
Eastwood has been something of a late bloomer, and was playing for non-league Halifax Town as recently as 2012. And, after a two year spell warming the Blackburn Rovers bench, it’s only now that he is starting to establish himself as a first choice ‘keeper in the Football League.

And it’s fair to say Eastwood is taking his chance in style. He’s been a shining light in a dreadful spell for Oxford and, even as they were torn apart again and again in Tuesday’s 3-1 defeat at Rotherham United, Eastwood still managed to display his considerable class.
Eastwood pulled off an incredible, physics-defying one-handed stop to push a Michael Smith header onto the post with Oxford under the cosh in the first-half. It was a genuine ‘Save of the Season’ contender, and showed in one remarkable moment exactly why Celtic were so keen to bring him to Parkhead in January.
But with Gordon (below) 35 years of age and understudy Dorus de Vries even older (37), who’s to say Celtic won’t be in for Eastwood again come the summer?
