Leeds United looked to be in an excellent position to land Lech Poznan’s Kamil Jozwiak – but the winger has now signed a new deal.

Leeds United fans can hardly be blamed for expressing their frustration with director of football Victor Orta with the club linked with a January move for Polish winger Kamil Jozwiak.
After all, with Leeds in the midst of a horror run of seven defeats in nine games prior to Sunday’s huge 2-1 win against Middlesbrough, the fans were demanding proven Championship experience in January with many of Orta’s imported, hitherto unknown summer signings struggling to adapt to life in England.
And Jozwiak, a 19-year-old winger from Lech Poznan who is yet to really stamp his authority on a regular starting place in the Ekstraklasa, is hardly the sort of player they were demanding.

Poznan’s president told Sport.pl that Jozwiak had a £175,000 offer from Leeds with his contract expiring at the end of the season – and the wideman himself was understood to be eying a move to Elland Road.
Imagine the surprise then when Poznan announced via their official Twitter account that Jozwiak had extended his contract – if only for a further 12 months.
But while Leeds have missed out on a highly-rated young talent potentially with a really promising future in the game, perhaps Orta has ironically been saved from further criticism.
After all, Leeds fans would only have further ammunition to criticise their transfer guru if he signed another unproven, unknown youngster not ready to make an immediate impact in English football.
