Bradford City’s out-of-contract winger Mark Marshall has been linked with Charlton Athletic and manager Karl Robinson has hardly dampened speculation.

Charlton Athletic boss Karl Robinson claimed that he did not want to comment on speculation linking the club with a move for Bradford City’s Mark Marshall. However, within the very same sentence, he has managed to intensify speculation linking the winger with a summer switch to The Valley, as reported by London News Online.

The publication reported earlier last week that Charlton were plotting a move for the 29-year-old with his contract due to expire at the end of the season. They add that Marshall, who began his career with Sutton-based non-leaguers Carshalton Athletic, is keen to return to his London roots.

And Robinson has done little to dampen the prospect of Marshall putting pen to paper with his first club’s near namesake.

‘I like Mark – but Bradford are in the play-offs,” the former MK Dons boss told London News Online. “In some ways I’m not going to comment on somebody else’s players when they have games coming up.

“But Mark is a really good player. He’s a local boy from London. But he is going into a play-off campaign, which is a big thing for Bradford.”

The signing of Marshall, who has been a regular in a Bradford side pushing for promotion, would serve to raise the optimism around The Valley after a turbulent couple of seasons.

Steve Gallen has recently been appointed as the club’s new Head of Recruitment while, according to The Sun, owner Roland Duchatalet could be willing to sell up at long last.

At last, things appear to be looking up at Charlton.
