Fans of Scottish Premiership giants Rangers want Kilmarnock manager Steve Clarke to replace Graeme Murty at Ibrox.

After Kilmarnock sealed a deserved 1-0 win at Ibrox before the international break, Rangers fans made it clear that Steve Clarke would be welcomed with open arms on the blue half of Glasgow.
The former Chelsea and Liverpool coach has restored his reputation as one of British football’s most underrated coaches since arriving at Rugby Park back in October. Killie have lost just three of his 25 games in charge and look to be in with an excellent shout of a top half finish.
So with Graeme Murty’s contract due to expire in the summer and the jury still very much out, a number of Rangers fans took to Twitter to clamour for Clarke’s appointment at Ibrox in the summer – one even calling him the ‘obvious choice’ while another praising the ‘incredible job’ he has done in Scotland.

And, to justify claims from Rangers fans that Clarke could take Rangers forward, Kilmarnock’s goalkeeping coach Billy Thompson has described him as the best manager in Scotland.
“When I first heard Steve was getting the job, I can’t deny I was shocked and I absolutely mean that as no disrespect to Kilmarnock,” Thompson, who represented Rangers as a goalkeeper between 1994 and 1996, told the Scottish Sun.

“To get someone of his standing in the game, who he had worked with in terms of people and clubs, I thought ‘Wow, that’s a coup’.
“Now, I definitely see him as favourite for Manager of the Year.”
