West Bromwich Albion, Crystal Palace and Brighton are all bidding to take Oumar Niasse from Everton and hand him a Premier League lifeline.
Another transfer window, another month in which Oumar Niasse has been heavily linked with a move away from Everton.
According to The Guardian, Crystal Palace, Brighton and West Bromwich Albion are lining up offers for the Senegalese striker, as the trio aim to add some much-needed firepower to their squad to boost their hopes of avoiding relegation.
And the report adds that Everton will listen to offers of £13 million – £500,000 less than they paid Lokomotiv Moscow two years ago.
This suggestion may come as a surprise to some. While Niasse is hardly a regular starter, he has made a real impact on a number of occasions with his aggressive style and lively movement in attack.
In total, Niasse has five goals from just five Premier League starts this season. But, perhaps tellingly, none of those have come since Sam Allardyce was permanently appointed as Ronald Koeman’s successor in mid-November.
Niasse has started just one of his four league appearances since the 63-year-old’s arrival at Goodison Park, delivering a rather ineffective display in the 2-0 New Year’s Day defeat at home to Manchester United.
And with Cenk Tosun already arriving at Everton this month with another set to follow him, it appears that Niasse has lost his form at precisely the wrong time – a goal drought which may have cost him his Toffees career.
Although the likes of West Brom, who have scored fewer goals than all but Swansea City this season, look an excellent fit for a striker who has the hunger, determination and ability to succeed as a Premier League goal-scorer.
