Celtic were beaten 2-0 by Hibernian on Saturday, meaning Steven Gerrard’s Rangers are top of the Scottish Premiership table heading to Easter Road.

Rangers face one of their toughest fixtures in the Scottish Premiership schedule on Wednesday night.
Steven Gerrard’s side are due to travel to Easter Road to take on a Hibernian side high on confidence after beating league champions Celtic 2-0 at the weekend. Hibs were more than deserving of their victory too, a result that allowed Rangers to go back to the top of the table.
So it’s fair to say that a win is far from guaranteed for The Gers as they make the daunting trip to Edinburgh.
But, should the Glasgow giants retain their place in first heading into Christmas, they could have Celtic skipper and arch nemesis Scott Brown to thank.

Because it was Brown who might just have ruled Hibernian midfielder Vykintas Slivka out of the big midweek clash. The former Juventus midfielder opened the scoring in the first minute against Celtic but was forced off at the interval after Brown clattered into him with a rather crude challenge.
As a result, a key and in-form player could be missing as Rangers prepare to take on Neil Lennon’s side, handing Gerrard a timely boost as they aim to avoid the same fate as Celtic at Easter Road.
