Harry Redknapp insists Chelsea are lacking quality in these key areas

Chelsea are looking increasingly ominous at the moment, but the former Tottenham Hotspur boss is not convinced.

Harry Redknapp believes Chelsea are lacking quality in a number of key positions despite making it seven wins on the spin against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, the Daily Mail reports.

Since making the much-publicised switch to the 3-5-2 formation that served manager Antonio Conte so well in charge of Juventus and Italy, the Blues have boasted a 100 per cent win record, with their stirring fightback at Stamford Bridge maintaining their place at the top of the Premier League.

Christian Eriksen gave Spurs the lead with a rocket early on but Chelsea, who struggled to impose themselves in the first-half, stepped up a gear after Pedro had whipped in the equaliser before the interval, with Victor Moses slotting home a deserved winner.

However, former Tottenham boss Redknapp believes Conte’s squad is still short on quality, meaning they may find it tough to maintain their excellent recent form across the whole campaign.

“I think there are three or four players in that Chelsea team who are not good enough to be playing in a team that wins the Premier League,” Redknapp said in quotes reported by the Daily Mail.

“I still think they are short at left-back, I’m still not convinced by the three at the back, I still don’t know if they have enough flair in midfield.

“They have got fantastic talent, I love watching [Eden] Hazard play and [Diego] Costa has been outstanding, but I’m still not sure that all around that is a team that will win the league.”

Conte’s starting XI was unchanged for the sixth game in succession against their London rivals, suggesting that there is a lack of trust towards his fringe players, most notably Cesc Fabregas and Michy Batshuayi.

However Redknapp’s assertions that Chelsea’s defensive players may cost them later on in the season stands out as particularly strange, especially after it took an Eriksen wonder-goal to bring an end to a run of six consecutive clean sheets.
