West Ham United fans were furious when reports suggested they wanted to bring Switzerland striker Seferovic to the Premier League in July.

West Ham United fans made their feelings clear about Haris Seferovic in July when Record claimed they were interested in signing the striker from Benfica. And it is fair to say the response was not particularly positive.
Seferovic was hardly the most prolific of striker’s after all, scoring on average once every five games in a career that continued to underwhelm.
Reacting on Twitter, West Ham supporters made it clear that they had no interest in welcoming the Swiss international to the London Stadium, particularly with a £52 million release clause making him look like an expensive risk that simply wasn’t worth taking.
‘I wouldn’t pay 52p’, one fan quipped.
But maybe the interest was not as mad as it first appeared. Because, six months after those links first appeared, Seferovic cannot stop scoring.

Before this season, he had scored a paltry 22 goals in 138 games during spells at Fiorentina. Real Sociedad, Eintracht Frankfurt in Benfica. This season, however, he has finally located his shooting boots, hitting the net 18 times in 36 games in all competitions for the Primeira Liga champions.
This is already the most prolific campaign of his career and he has reduced his record from one-in-five to one-in-two.
That is not to say Seferovic was worth £52 million, but maybe West Ham knew what they were doing after all.
